Revoltech Lazengann by Kaiyodo
After waiting for this figure since hearing of it some three months or more ago, at last, today is the day. Since detecting the protruding foot and tail of the Spiral King's dread ganmen in the corner of a Wonder Festival photo, I have with bated breath awaited this day, when with a manly ignition I shall launch for Ximen, and cut the crowds with an unstoppable spiral power to claim my long-awaited prize.

Enough of that, though.

Handsomely boxed, as before, with a special band advertising the inclusion of Gurren Lagann's flight pack... Or rather, the first half of it. Turns out the wings themselves aren't included. Not sure where they've gotten to...

Aside from the incomplete flight pack, the mighty black ganmen comes equipped with the essentials: three sets of hands (fists, open grasping claws, and sort of relaxed pointing claws); a toothy abdomen to switch with the plain paneled one; two pieces of the Spiral King's patented extendo-drill (the two-bit one, attachable at the elbow, and the single-bit one, attachable at the wrist); and the standard base. There's also an additional piece of base, but I'm not certain how it fits in with the rest yet.

Lazengann is a muscle mecha. While not quite as flexible as Gurren Lagann, the design of the figure reflects the design of the character just as well, that is to say the figure readily lends itself to Lazengann-like posture.

A grasping leap. Unlike Gurren Lagann, whose wrists had their own little revolver joints, Lazengann's hands attach to the wrists via simple plugs, but this better suits this ganmen's organic, muscular form - the difference between Lazengann, whose design lies somewhere between a stealth jet and a tyrannosaurus rex, and Gurren Lagann, a walking hot-rod with sunglasses.

Lazengann may not have a giga drill, but the Spiral King knows a thing or two about piercing the heavens.

The king of ganmen shows his catlike reflexes. (And his teeth! Scary!)

The Spiral King's exercises are interrupted by an irate Gurren Lagann, demanding to know why he was given an incomplete flight pack. Lazengann disavows any knowledge of Kaiyodo's reasoning.

The bellicose red ganmen accuses his nemesis of deliberately withholding the rest of the wing pack. Lazengann takes umbrage at this insult.

Super robot fisticuffs seem imminent. This is no doubt not going to be pretty.

The two titans come to blows. Does this look familiar...?

The Gurrendan's champion brandishes his sunglass-blade, but the lithe Lazengann leaps out of range.

The same leap from another angle.

With a great cry, the crimson mecha delivers a tremendous blow...

... But one of the Spiral Generals of antiquity is not so easily bested.

Relieving Gurren Lagann of his glasses, the fierce jet ganmen delivers not one...

... But two earth-shattering kicks...

... And slams the crimson contender to the ground with a final, monstrous punch.

Thinking his foe finished, Lazengann begins to stride away, but as we know well, when the Gurrendan's odds are zero, they may as well be 100%!

As ever, though, the Spiral King is on guard!

And how concludes this epic clash, worthy of song, Heaven only knows...
