When
we had just moved in to our apartment on Shida Road, we noticed one of
the capsule toy machines in front of the nearest Family Mart indicating
the figures it dispensed (at NT$60 each, as I recall) belonged to the
"CATS Booze club." It wasn't long before we would swing by this machine
more than once daily to throw in all our spare change, hoping to
complete the set before the machine ran empty. Within a week or so, the
last Booze Cat was obtained, and our apartment dubbed in honor of their
exalted troupe.

His name might be more loosely rendered "Lil' Bro Cat." ![]() "Glutton Cat" (貪吃貓) is absently gnawing a fish. ![]() "Eldest Brother Cat" (老大貓), or "Big Bro Cat." ![]() "Mistress Cat" (情婦貓) was the last member to join the party. There were a nervous couple of days when the machine was running low and we kept coming up with doubles we already had, but by a lucky stroke Ben brought this one home, one of the final handful of capsules in the machine. ![]() The whole club. The name of the set, 酒命貓, which Tommy Bear Co. clearly had some difficulty translating (as indicated by the differing translations "CATS Booze Club" on the machine and "Inebriation Cat[s]" on the individual capsules), means "cats who live for liquor."
